Autumn

We've had a couple real freezes with about 1/2" of ice on the dog's water bowl, autumn is definitely here. They've decided to be inside dogs, pretty much ever since we moved here! Can't say I blame them... So here are a few images of the the new season. Above is a tiny fungus that looks like cat toes to me.
A spooky milkweed seed pod. Oooo - eeeee - ooooo!
Another milkweed pod. I am always surprised by how difficult it is to get a really fabulous shot of this plant which is so beautiful in real life. Hard to really get the gorgeous fluffy essence of it. Jeff and I have been researching new cameras for me lately tho...goody goody! It definitely has to be a DSLR, so I can have manual focus and filters etc. We are leaning towards the Nikon D80. Anyone out there have an opinion on them? Post a comment :)
Finally, I can't do a post about autumn without some red leaves. So here you go!

Row Row update

He loves his bathies :) His latest phrase is "aaaw, cute" (he's heard it *a few* times ;) It's such an ordeal to wash his hair that I'm starting to think about giving him the monumental first haircut. But I love those curls! And how will I get him to sit still while I'm wielding a pair of scissors around his head??? Suggestions? Maybe anesthesia...like some kava kava/valerian tea... hmmm

Peachtree Farms Harvest Time

See the goat tongue? I think it's kinda cute, in a barnyard sorta way ;)
This cutie is Elena. Her momma Lori has a playgroup every week in Columbia that we just started going to.

So we finally made it into Peachtree Farms, and it's just as cute (aargh there's that word AGAIN! What's come over me?? Is it motherhood?) up close. Row Row had finally gotten over a nasty flu type thing with 102 degree fever and an all nite puke-a-thon, so we were READY to get out of the house! The farm has multiple pumpkin patches, tons of animals, a creepy looking straw bale maze, even a tractor driven hayride. Heaven for kids. There must have been at least three field trip groups just in the time we were there.

Treasure hunting in Lupus ;) I love rusty old forgotten things, they have such personality. The last photo is of the old bank, which was burnt down. There is talk of building another stage in the old building for next year's fest. I just love that round window, it looks like an eye. Wish I could've gotten the right angle on it to have a nice clean composition, maybe next year!

Lupus Chili-fest

This past weekend we all headed down the river to the Lupus Chilifest. Lupus is a tiny town (the sign says population 29!) on the banks of the Missouri. What an interesting little gathering of people it was! As you can see in the first photo, the railroad runs right through town, and every so often one would rumble by throughout the night. They say that if you live there, you get so used to the noise from the trains that if you leave you can't sleep without it! Most people camped right next to the tracks, but we met up with some new friends who showed us a lovely little secret spot away in a nearby field. It felt so nice to camp again, under a full moon no less! :) There were some great bands, I wish I could remember what any of them were called!
