But once a year...

Well what a day it was! Full of thrills and spills! Row has a thing for snowmen now, he's even more into them than Santa "Claws". The way he says "sn-man" just KILLS me :) Precious family moments...wait what's the score?"I'll have what she's having!"

Cheesy!

Cheesy!, originally uploaded by *Lovelight*.

Messing around with my monkey, and the digital "glamour shotz" filter on my camera. Just lemme know if you need some glam in your portfolio ;) Too bad he has those boo boos on his face, that kid plays hard! It's so funny how sometimes (like now) he loves the camera, and other times he's just not in the mood (like here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/26733061@N00/231176219/in/set-72157594419085594/

Blue baby in the bath

Oooops, wrong light setting...but I like it :) Please disregard the mildew, ugh! Did you know that blue baby is actually a syndrome usually caused by the pregnant mother of a baby drinking water that is contaminated by nitrate fertilizers? Other culprits are big hog farms, which are notorious for causing horrendous watershed contamination. It causes the baby to turn blue because the nitrates replace oxygen is it's blood stream, poor guy! It is usually reversible fortunately. A good reason to garden organic!

Day's end

The sunset that evening was incredible!

Another cool find. I guess winter has it's good points, I would never have spotted this through the leaves in summer!
All tuckered out :)

Bunker Mentality

Hiking around on my favorite section of the Katy Trail with my favorite people...Jeff and Row Row :) You may recall this bunker from an earlier entry, I can't resist taking a few pics every tiem I walk by. It's nice to be able to get a wider angle than I was able to with the Kodak.... it's also nice to be able to manually dial in the focus...

...And it's also nice when you find cute little buggers like these bats hiding! They were incredibly tiny, only the size of a mouse. I'm pretty sure we didn't wake them.

Jump!

Playing with the continuous shutter option, one of the main reasons I got this camera! The lighting wasn't so hot here, it was a cloudy day, but it was still so much fun to take this series :)

First day out

Here's a couple from my first walk with the new Pentax. The plant is Jimsonweed, or Datura, a toxic and hallucinogenic member of the tomato family. It tends to multiply rapidly in pastureland like this, as the animals know better than to eat it!
Bear with me folks, this is my first attempt at manual focusing!

The apprentice

Here's saying goodbye to a faithful friend, my Kodak Easyshare. I have passed it on to my son, so it's days are numbered. BUT I finally got a DSLR, a Pentax! YAY :) Stay tuned for some test shots....

Breakin' in the new slope :)

Splat! Sorry Row, I couldn't resist taking just one shot before coming to the rescue! The first word out of his mouth was "More!" These were taken in our backyard.

My favorite shot of the day :) ^

His first sled run ever!

SNOW DAY!!!!!

Wow, we got our first real winter storm of the season and it was HUGE! As you can see, Row approves :) It was a pretty harsh transition from our 70 degree weather last week, the Midwest is a strange place! Last night after Rowan went to bed I stood outside and listened to the thunder snow and thought, hey maybe this place isn't so bad ;) Jeff had quite a time getting home too! His superviser completetly screwed up (should have sent everyone home at lunch) so the entire parking lot was snowed in! He spent an hour helping pull people out with the 4 by truck, and almost got stuck in a snow drift! Nordyne is crazy, heads are gonna roll!

This was taken in the middle of the snow storm, I love it!
